Updating…

Boy, maybe I should program updating my blog into my phone once a week…I wonder if it’d get done then ;)  I have no idea where the school year went!  I blinked and it was over.  I have been busy with various crafts though and can’t wait to share them.  You may want to grab a pop or cup of coffee because it will be a long one…or maybe lots of short ones, we’ll see :)  I thought I’d go month by month.

First up is March: Here is a little birthday card and goodie basket I whipped up for one of our secretaries…she celebrated a big birthday this year!

Below is a set of note cards I made for a teacher at my son’s school who was moving.  I made one for her in the same layout but switched the sentiment to ‘Good Luck’.

Next up are my St. Patrick’s day projects. I sewed the boys these hats for the special day…they loved them and reported that they “didn’t get pinched today mom”! We had a delicious traditional supper…reubens, waffle fries and shamrock shakes. Good thing that only happens once a year :) I made these little decorations. I got the idea from here still searching for it…so need to get things organized!

Has it really been 4 months since I’ve blogged????

Wow where did the end of 2010 go?  It seems like every year when we get to Halloween I blink through November and December and a new year is upon us.  While the blog has been over run with cobwebs I have been crafting.  It’s time to wipe them away and start showing you what I have been up to.  I put what I have been doing recently through last Halloween.

This is a tag and bag I decorated for my Niece’s birthday.  We started up our tradition of giving books again.  So we knew she is into horses so I picked up this book for her.  It is the first one in the series.  The great thing about series books is that if they don’t like the book…no big deal.  BUT, if they do like the book….now their interest has been captured and they can continue to read more and more books in that series!  I picked up some ugly looking zombie magnet book marks during my last trip to Barnes and Noble and covered them in paper and modge podge to make that book mark you see above.  I then die cut the letter c for her name and adhered that on with modge podge too.  I then put two more coats over the top of it all.  She was very excited about the book when she opened it. :)  I love the color kraft and having been using it for everything lately.  The bag is a recycled Hy-Vee bag that I cut the handles off of. flipped over and decorated with Sharpies to mimic the patterned paper on the tag and od course finished it off with an altered clothespin :)

I have seen these fabric flowers all over the blogging world and have been wanting to make a wreath with them ever since I saw the first one.  This is my January wreath.  I am hoping to head out to Hobby Lobby soon and grab some Valentines day fabric to make a new one.  The fabric is half off this week….bonus!  The white berries I picked up for 29 cents I think at Michael’s during their Christmas close out.  The wreath came from Wal-Mart and the fabric from Jo-Ann’s.  All in all I spent under $10 to make this wreath!

My dad is back in the hospital so I made this little kit to help pass the time.  My husband was joking with me that Hospital Survival Kit might not be the best name for it.  Of course he said this AFTER I had it all made and was ready to walk out the door with it :)  The boys helped me pick out some of grandpa’s favorite things to fill it up with.  There is also a magazine that lays on top of everything before closing it.  I love making these acrylic frame post it note holders.  I was browsing the $1 bins at Target (so addicting I might add!)  when I came across some Batman dry erase boards and thought perfect!  I can take the marker holder from that and clip it on to the side of the frame to hold a pen so everything is all in one spot for him.

 img_3178.JPGimg_3174.JPG

Sorry about the sideways picture there.  I was in a rush downloading these and didn’t realize it was sideways.  I have to edit the photos before uploading them to the blog and unfortunately I am not going to go back and do that.  Inside is an Erector set and Percy Jackson the Lightening Thief book for our nephew who had a birthday in January.  He flipped out when he saw the book so hopefully he will enjoy the series!

 img_2749.JPGimg_2751.JPG

My mom made homemade pear butter for all the relatives for Christmas and asked for some simple and quick tags to go with them.  This is what I came up with.  Then I grabbed some bread bags, stamped some labels with that rolling pin image and gave them to my aunt Sharon.  She loves to make homemade bread and best of all….she loves to share it with all of us!  This was my way of showing her how much we appreciate her taking the time to make us all a loaf of bread, which is delicious I might add.

I saw the idea for melted snowman cookies here and knew the boys and I just had to make them for their classroom treats.  We had so much fun making them.  I messed up the royal icing somehow….still don’t know what I did wrong but they were a hit!  Not surprised.  Not only are the fun and easy to make but they are also very tasty.

img_2667.JPG

Here’s a tag and recycled bag I decorated for my mom’s birthday.  As I said earlier in the post I am addicted to anything kraft at the moment.  It’s such a neutral color and it’s great when you get tired of white and black.  I used a Sharpie to add details to the bag, trying to mimic the patterned paper on the tag and clip.  I love that Michelle shared her idea about altered clothespins.  I can’t stop making them.  I make them for everything.  I have a bowl that sits on top of the microwave that holds them and we use them as bag clips.

 img_2647.JPGimg_2646.JPG

My son’s kindergarten class studied gingerbread men and at the end of the unit they baked their own cookie and needed decorations.  Tanner wanted to get sprinkles and of course we couldn’t get just one “because I don’t think that will be enough mom.  we better get all of these” he said to me holding for of them in his arms at the store ;)  So we bought all four and then I decided I wanted a fun and easy way for him to carry them to school.  I made this little caddy with two pieces of kraft paper and used score tape to hook the two caddies together.  I then wrapped printed paper around them and made the gingerbread stamp label to hide the seams.

 img_2510.JPGimg_2512.JPGimg_2511.JPGimg_2754.JPGimg_2756.JPGimg_2760.JPG

Here are the tags I made for all the children’s Christmas presents.  The red ones were for the girls and they have reds rhinestones on the nose.  The green ones were for the boys.  I then stamped snowflakes on large lunch nags that I found at Target.  I altered clothespins with matching pp and wrote the children’s names on the clothespin.  For the bigger gifts I recycled Hy-Vee sacks again.

img_2508.JPG

I love making things out of anything recycled.  We have done puzzles, memory games, game boards these notepads and so much more. I came across this picture that I had taken of these and thought I’d share them with you.  You can take your supplies to any office supply store and they can do it for you.  I however made these at home.  I bought a binding machine years ago for about $50 at Office Max and I get the combs there too.  We make enough books and such that it was worth the money to buy the machine and combs.  Plus that way when I am working on something at midnight or later I can finish it and don’t have to wait until the next day to run it in :)

 img_2506.JPG

These are the Veteran’s day cards I made for our local VA hospital.  I made 120 of them and hand wrote a thank you message on the inside.  The cards were put on all of the Vet’s breakfast trays the morning of Veteran’s Day.  I did the same thing last year too.  You can see those cards here.  I hope to make this a yearly tradition.  My mom just read in the paper a few weeks ago that they are looking for cards for Vet’s on Valentine’s day so I think we are going to try and make 100+ cards for that.  For me that will be the perfect Super Bowl time passer ;)

 img_2503.JPGimg_2499.JPGspooky fun lunches during October

Last but not least is some of the stuff I worked on for Halloween.  These are my boys in their Halloween costumes that I made for them.  Gaven wanted to be Mickey Mouse (my mom sewed the hat).  Tanner wanted to be one of the Kratt brothers from Zoboomafoo.  I sewed Velcro onto the lemurs paws and the top of Tanner’s shirt so the lemur looked like it was sitting on his shoulders.  The boys loved their costumes and we had a great Halloween!  Then I put in a picture of one of the lunches I made for him.  We made a special lunch like this everyday in October for Tanner.  He takes his lunch to school daily so we are always trying to keep it fun and tasty for him.  I had also sewn some Halloween cloth napkins for his much bag.  I just picked up some John Deere and other fun fabrics to make more napkins for his lunch.  We try to send him with a waste free lunch every day, minus the milk carton that he buys at the school.

Thanks for stopping by.  I’d love to hear any comments and questions you might have.  Enjoy the weekend.

Cards, notebooks, gifts oh my!

First up is a gift for a co-worker.  This is the tag I made for the bag.  The pennant I made for one of my son’s birthday parties he was invited to.  I love making these altered clothespins.  I use them for everything now!  Thanks Michelle for sharing such inspirations on your blog!

img_2120.JPGimg_2007.JPG

Here is a tag I whipped up for my cousins bridal shower.  A few of us went in a gift and we bought the storage ottoman she picked out and filled it with other goodies.  Because it was so big I just wrapped ribbon around it and attached the tag.  I made the red rose flower.  The birthday card is my first attempt at making a faux letter press card.  I inked up my embossing folder, inserted the card and then ran it through my Epic 6.

img_0958.JPGimg_0636.JPGimg_0635.JPG

The card above was inspired by Nichole Heady.  It was fun to make and I will definitely be making more of these.

Here is a little birthday gift I made for a friend.  I altered an envelope to make the pouch.

Next up are some back to school notebooks that I made for a few of my Co-teachers along with my boys teachers.  The labels I made for my nephew used the die cut and stamp set from Papertrey Ink.  I bought some books for him and personalized each one before putting it on the book.

Thanks for stopping by.  Leave a comment if you have any questions about what I used to create any of these.  I will post again soon.

Fourth of July

img_9943-copy.JPGimg_0015.JPG

I guess I will start by posting some things we did for the fourth.

I’m back!

First off, I want to apologize for the the long break.  It was not my intention at all.  The end of the summer flew by, then the school year started and it has been super busy ever since!  I am so excited for Halloween to be around the corner but not ready for it yet.  There are so many things I want to create before the holiday arrives.  While the blog has been quiet and piling up cob webs….my craft area has not!  I have lots to up load and share and I hope you will stop by to see what I have been up to.    I am hoping to post again tonight showing you some of them.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!  In the meantime make sure you check out these super cool sites that I have found over the last few months.  They are full of great ideas :)

Father’s Day

So I was going through photos on my phone and came across these.  I thought I’d share the tag and card I made for my dad’s gift.  We went in on a raised garden bed for my dad with my sister and her family.  He wants to grow strawberries so that’s why I made the strawberry tag and altered the container of strawberries.

img00143-20100619-1800.jpgimg00141-20100619-1731.jpgimg00139-20100619-1731.jpgimg00137-20100619-1731.jpgimg00138-20100619-1731.jpg

For the jar of strawberries on the gift tag I stamped the jar onto transparency paper and then cut it out.  Then I stamped the jar onto white cs and cut it out.   Next I used the mask from the white cs and put the jar back in it.  I then stamped the strawberries in black ink and colored them in my Copics.  I used Aileene’s clear tacky glue to glue the transparency jar to the cs jar.  I love the way it turned out!  I also made that label cover for the carton of strawberries we bought to go with the raised garden bed.  I wrote on both tags and stamped the 5 on the jar tag.  Thanks for looking and have a great Friday!  Stacy

Birthday cards

I made 20 of these birthday invitations for a friend at work.  She celebrates her daughters birthdays together and this years them was dogs.  Both girls enjoyed there invites so it was well worth it :)  Half had the purple cs strip and half had a blue cs strip, representing each of their favorite colors.

Updates

Good Afternoon.  I have been updating all morning, trying to get caught up with all my posts.  Make sure that you scroll all the way down as I have put several new posts up today.  Unfortunately I put the most current at the bottom…wasn’t thinking about that as I was posting.  I’ve also added some photos to my SCS gallery: Poopsie and I just created an album on PTI’s forum: Stacy’s creations using PTI products.  Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the day.  The boys and I are going to go for a walk and make new library bags…hopefully I can post those later.

Happy Birthday Boys!

So a few weeks ago we celebrated the boys’ birthdays together with all the family.  It’s hard to believe Gaven is 3 and Tanner is 6…where does the time go?On tradition that my siblings and I had growing up was that our mom always made our birthday cakes.  I think my first store bought cake was in high school and it was a DQ frozen ice cream cake…need I say more.  Anyway, I have started the same tradition.  My boys have yet to have a store bought cake for their birthdays.  This year they wanted trains again.  We seem to to alternate between trains and dogs, Clifford in particular.  My oldest requested his daddy’s engine and my youngest asked for Thomas the Train.  So my mom and I got together and came up with these two cakes.  Sorry ladies, there’s no paper crafting or stamping involved with these, I just wanted to share them with you all :)  First up is Thomas the Train.

Here is our take at my husbands engine, obviously changing the wording and engine number.
