challenge 5. for this challenge we had to use a solid image to make a faux border. I used a star to make the border. I thought it looked like a banner so I grabbed a cupcake stamp and birthday wishes stamp. This was a very fun challenge and I can’t wait to find more solid images to see what other borders can be created. Images are Studio G, star is inkadinkado, inks are colorbox chalk.

First up are some goodies I made for my birthday peeps. Two gals have the same birthday as me at the school I work at. I made them these little stands, mini cupcakes and card for our special day. The inside of the card said ‘big wishes to my birthday peeps’. I had just gotten this stamp and loved it! You will see I used it again for Easter. I got the idea from the tomkat studio. They were inexpensive, fast and fun to make. I will be making more of them.
This is a card I made for my nephew who turned 1!
Next are some easter goodie bags and tags for my nieces and nephews. I cut the tip of the pins off after I had them tread through the bag and tag. I used Stazon pumpkin ink to stamp the dots onto the lunch sack. The tag was cut with my Sizzix Tags, Scallop combo #2 and my Epic 6.
And of course some Mickey Mouse cupcake toppers for Gaven’s birthday! He loves Mickey Mouse (right now he’s in to Yogi the Bear). I used my Mickey punch and a circle punch to create these. I typed up and printed the words on my computer. I cut them apart, stamped them with some blue circles and attached them to the red circle ( 1 3/4 inch punch), layered the Mickey head and then adhered them to a toothpick. The tooth pick is sandwiched between this and another red circle on the back. The punches came from Hobby Lobby. I made a fun birthday banner to but can’t figure out where the picture went….

My brother-in-law is celebrating his birthday today. We tend to exchange money between all of us siblings. I decided to make one of these envelope gift bags that I saw here. They are so much fun! Gen shows you how to reuse your junk mail envelopes by covering them with printed paper. She shows you what to do so make sure you hop over and take a look. I decided to keep it clean and simple and I used for sentiments for PTI’s mega mixed messages set. I was looking around on eighteen 25 when they had this post about a Holiday bake, craft and sew along. So I went to the three blogs listed when I saw these subway signs which are super fun. This is my take on the subway sign but on a gift bag. I think the next time I do this I would add some color and birthday related images like presents and candles, maybe even just some dots. I punched a circle from black cs and put a black brad in the center for interest. By adding the circle it made it easier to see where the envelope was divided.
Here is a look inside the envelope bag. I used a black paperclip to attach the tag and money to a package of gum.
Supplies: regular white envelope, Stazon Jet black ink, PTI-mega mixed messages, black cs, 1 1/4 circle punch, black brad, adhesive

Our nephew celebrated his 5th birthday yesterday. I zipped up this drawstring bag for him. Inside of it are two boxes of Kinex vehicles and an outfit. I love making these bags because they can use them for other stuff or they can reuse it for someone else’s birthday. We try to be a little greener each day and this is one of my newest ways. The bags are simple to make and take no time at all to sew up. If you haven’t made one…give it a try. If you do make one I would love for you to leave me a link so I can see your project. If anyone needs step by step pictures and instructions just leave a note in the comments section and I can make a post on it.
Supplies: 1/2 yard fabric, black thread, rope, black floss, tag die cut (Sissix), circle punch, sentiment-PTI, balloons image-Dollar Tree, mini attacher-Tim Holtz
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend! The boys wrap up swimming lessons tomorrow and next week is my last full week of summer before having to go back to work :( Summer seems to go by faster than the school year does. Well enjoy and I should have another post for you tomorrow ![]()

I’m always looking for ways to be greener. When our cousin’s sons birthday party was coming up, they said he was really into Legos. It seems like you buy this huge box with only about a 1/4 being used to house the Legos. Then over time the box breaks down and Legos are falling out everywhere. I decided to pull out the sewing machine and stitch up this drawstring bag (that I learned how to make in middle school)for the Legos. I put the box of Legos inside the bag (not knowing if he had this set already) and used the bag as the gift wrap and then explained that the Legos could be stored in there once opened, making it easier to take them with him to a friends’ house and such. Next I whipped up a simple boy looking tag for the bag. Both the Legos and the bag were a hit!
Supplies: fabric and cording from Wal-Mart, sentiment: PTI Enjoy the Ride, Sizzix: tags, scallop combo #2, EK Success: 1 3/4 circle punch, thread and staples

We celebrated my boys’ birthdays a few weekends back. Tanner got several Buzz Lightyear toys and was very excited about them. Since is birthday was after the big family celebration he wanted cupcakes that were like Buzz Lightyear. Not owning any (or knowing that they were out there because I just saw some last week) I pulled out my Technique Tuesday Rocket Man set. I showed him the little alien guy and he loved it! We baked up some vanilla cupcakes and whipped up a batch of icing and created this little guys. I didn’t mix the blue food coloring in all the way so that it would have that galaxy feeling and then we sprinkled Wiltons’ White Sparkling Sugar sprinkles and blue sprinkles on to for added affect. I stamped the image in StazOn jet black ink and then colored it in with markers, then punch them out with my circle punch. Next I put Scor-Tape on the inside of two circle punches and sandwiched a toothpick in between them. Then we stuck them into the cupcake and brought them to school for snack on his birthday. I am so happy with how they turned out as was the birthday boy :) These little toothpick cupcake toppers are so fast and easy to make too. I have done them for several years now.
Here’s a little close up of the cupcakes.

Ok, so I have seen Dawn McVey build these flowers from paper punches and have been wanting to try them for months. I finally tried it out and I had so much fun making the yellow one that I decided to make 5 more in different colors. I am always in need of birthday cards and thought it would be nice to have some on hand when I don’t have time to make them. I think I might make up a bunch of the flowers to have on hand to make card making go a bit faster too. These would be perfect to make while watching Greys Anatomy
This is the first one I made. I used my EK success punches 1 3/4, 1 1/2, 1 1/4 and 1″ circle punches. I inked the edges in a darker shade of yellow and then crumpled them up and unfolded them. I glued the circles together and added a button with PTI twine for the center. The border punch is Martha Stewart and the leaves are Stampendous - Sunny Flowers that I stamped and cut out. Sentiment is TCP Studio-Greetings.
Here’s a close up of the flower. Makes me think of spring!
Here’s another set of cards I made to have on hand. I needed three and didn’t have much time so I made about 10 of these since they were quick and I really liked how they turned out. I used box of dots by Hero Arts and the sentiment is the same as above.
Here’s some masculine birthday cards I made to keep on hand. I gave one to my 15 year old cousin and one to a co-worker. Again clean and simple and very happy with the look. I used Hero arts- snippets and the sentiment is also Hero arts- for him.
Here’s a card I made for my cousin’s daughter. The sketch was from the pink elephant challenge from last week. Image is imaginisce and paper was in my stash. Rhinestone from Queen and company.
Well that’s all for now. What did you think? I’d love to read your comments. Thanks for looking and enjoy your Saturday!

This is the package I made for my sister-in-law’s birthday. I have used up all of my birthday papers and am using only this brown craft paper. I love being able to create the design of the paper. I also figure that when this is gone I can start using brown paper bags from the store as another way to recycle them.
Sorry these images are small and that the red one is sideways. My camera settings were switched to low quality for a post we put on Craig’s List…and they weren’t put back! So I have almost 300 pictures of poor quality…so bummed. Any way, the first one is a package I decorated for my nephew’s birthday. The second one is a card for a co-worker. I made one with this same image for my mom but didn’t get a picture of it :( I colored the image in with a Copic…just starting buying these and all I can say is WOW…what a marker.
